Zelensky warned airlines about the risks of flying over Russian skies

Zelensky said the warning is addressed to every airline that uses Russian airspace, every insurer, and everyone who still flies to key Russian airports, above all those in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as to other important destinations. He added that Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant institutions will provide international bodies with full information about the dangers in Russian skies.

The President of Ukraine also asked that ambassadors of states working in Ukraine and in Moscow hear this and pass the warning on to their capitals. “We in Ukraine do not want the death of innocent people”, Zelensky said, adding that “civil aviation has no place among drones”.

On August 28, Zelensky had already said that he had given Ukrainian forces the task of launching up to a thousand drones a day at Russia. At the time, he linked this to the ramp-up in weapons production to defend against Russian strikes on Ukraine and called the task “a thousand drones for long-range sanctions a day against Russia”.
