Zelensky said Trump’s representatives plan to visit Kyiv and Moscow

In his evening address, Zelensky said that representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump plan to travel to Kyiv and Moscow. According to him, the preliminary dates of the visit are already known, and the meeting is expected in the coming days. He did not provide any other details.

The U.S. and Russia have not yet commented on this information.

On September 2, Trump, speaking to journalists at the White House, again called on Russia and Ukraine to “stop this stupid war”. He added that he is ready to meet with Vladimir Putin, but considers such a meeting appropriate only “when the war is nearing its end”. Trump also said that he would like “good relations” with Russia, Ukraine, and everyone else, and called this beneficial for business.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview with Fox News that Washington will seek, “in the coming weeks”, to determine whether peace talks between Russia and Ukraine can be resumed. According to him, the U.S. understands that both sides have “fairly clear red lines”, and the Trump administration will seek to bring these positions closer together.

At the end of last year and the beginning of this one, after the meeting between Trump and Putin in Anchorage, the largest city in the U.S. state of Alaska, several rounds of talks took place between Russia and Ukraine with U.S. mediation; the last such meeting was held in February. After the start of the military operation by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, there were no new meetings.
