Trump’s press office excluded Andrew Feinberg from the pool for the trip to Iowa
Private draft
Donald Trump’s press office excluded British newspaper The Independent correspondent Andrew Feinberg from the group of journalists who were supposed to cover the president’s trip to Iowa on October 22. The decision followed an exchange in the Oval Office, where Trump called the journalist a “sick man”.
According to The Insider, Feinberg received the notice of exclusion the day after this conversation. The journalist tried to ask a question about alleged plans to create a “hotline” for whistleblowers to report what the administration considers fraud.
During his interaction with the press in the Oval Office, Trump told Feinberg that he was a “sick man” and advised him to “be more careful”. Later, one of the White House accounts on Twitter, Rapid Response 47, posted video of the incident and accompanied it with insults directed at the correspondent.
The published message said that Trump was “roasting a mongoloid idiot for his disgraceful behavior”. U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance, who was present during the conversation, also posted the video and called Feinberg an “imbecile”.
The White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) said it “strongly objects” to restricting a journalist’s work simply because the president did not like his questions, and called it retaliation. The Independent writes that Feinberg became at least the third journalist or outlet to be excluded from the Air Force One pool in recent weeks.
Earlier, a U.S. court ruled that the president’s administration must restore accreditation to CNN, Politico, and MS NOW journalists, whom Trump had banned from working at the White House. The administration appealed the decision.
