The Supreme Court of the LPR sentenced Sergey Ilechko to 12 years and 2 months in prison in a treason case

According to the investigation, in 2017 Ilechko met and “established a cooperative relationship” with “unidentified representatives” of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry (GUR), after which he took the alias “Galina”.

The prosecutor’s office claims that from May to December 2018 he watched an employee of the LPR Ministry of State Security and his family and passed information about him to Ukrainian intelligence services via messenger.

The court release says that Ilechko also “provided other assistance to representatives of a foreign state”: he built a bathhouse complex with wiretapping equipment in order to hand it over to “representatives of the armed formations of the LPR” and the Russian army.

According to the court, he received Russian citizenship in 2023 and after that “continued activities in the interests of the SBU and GUR”.

The court said the man was detained in 2024, whereas the FSB reported his detention in July 2026. In the security forces’ video, Ilechko said that he built the bathhouse for himself, told an SBU officer about it, and the officer suggested installing wiretapping equipment and renting out the premises to Russian military personnel; “There was no way to refuse... I couldn’t refuse”, he said.
