The court imposed a ban on certain actions on Lida Moniava in the case of «fakes» about the army

Moniava was banned from going outside from 20:00 to 08:00, communicating with witnesses, and using the internet.

The criminal case was prompted by a post in her Telegram channel, published on the first anniversary of the Russian troops’ invasion of Ukraine. The post said: “For a year now, my country has been sending missiles, tanks, and soldiers to Ukraine. For a year now, innocent people have been dying because of this”.

Moniava was detained after a search on September 2. Before the court’s decision, about 200 people came to the building to support her.

Among them were the founder of the Vera foundation, Nyuta Federmesser, former editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dmitry Muratov, as well as hospice patients and their relatives, including some in wheelchairs.

Those who came were not allowed into the court building. When Moniava came out of the court building, the crowd greeted her with applause.
