After a series of attacks on Russian military personnel and public figures, security forces expanded the list of people accompanied by state security, and it now includes the heads of state TV channels and TV presenters, “Agentstvo” writes.
According to an employee of one of the federal TV channels, Rosgvardiya chief Viktor Zolotov recently recommended that the channel’s management strengthen security measures. After that, the source claims, Rosgvardiya officers were assigned to most of the heads of major TV channels.
The publication’s source noted that not everyone is happy with such protection, because constant accompaniment also means additional oversight by the security forces. Another source said that some TV presenters have also begun receiving protection.
One of the sources said that he recently saw a well-known presenter at a birthday party in Moscow accompanied by a separate security vehicle. Another source added that top executives of TV channels could previously also be accompanied by officers of the non-departmental security service, which is part of Rosgvardiya.
Another source said that he saw Ilya Medvedev, the son of Security Council deputy chairman Dmitry Medvedev, accompanied by a large number of FSO officers — the Federal Protective Service. Before his arrival, the source said, security thoroughly checked the area, and acquaintances of Medvedev Jr. say that such protection was due to him before as well, as the son of a former president.
The same source said that during a visit to Moscow by the grandsons of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, at least ten FSO officers met them at the airport. In his assessment, such visits used to be accompanied by fewer guards.
