A resident of Ust-Kut in the Irkutsk region took her husband away from the military enlistment office, where, according to the family, 54-year-old Vladimir was being held and forced to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense. According to “People of Baikal”, before that he was held for a day, first in the police station and then in the military enlistment office.
As The Insider writes, Vladimir was detained in an apartment while visiting after neighbors complained about the noise. District officer Nikolai Konatovsky said that when the police arrived, the man was sleeping on the sofa, and another person was taken along with him; they did not detain a third friend of theirs, who was sitting in a wheelchair.
Vladimir’s wife Lyubov and daughter Svetlana, according to relatives, tried to reach him by phone, but without success: his phone and documents were taken away. Later, the detainee said that the police fed them and bought them vodka so that he would not sober up.
Vladimir spent the night from September 20 to 21 in the police station, and on Monday morning he was taken to the military enlistment office. According to the man himself, there he signed many “some papers”.
Daughter Svetlana filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office and indicated that her father signed the documents while intoxicated and under the supervision of police officers. When Lyubov came to pick up her husband, the district officer refused to let him go and, according to relatives, said that she was obstructing the signing of a contract for the special military operation.
After the medical commission and the signing of the papers, as relatives claim, the police loosened control and let Vladimir go out for a cigarette. Then Lyubov put him in the car and drove him away. Svetlana’s statement also includes a request to check information about bonuses for police officers for bringing in “volunteers”; the document says that over the past two weeks at least 17 men in Ust-Kut ended up in the military enlistment office in the same way. Relatives claim that the district officer kept watch over Vladimir near the house and said: “God forbid we see him on the street or anywhere else — he’ll still end up going to the special military operation”.
