Poland raised fighter jets after Russian strikes on Volyn

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said that the military mobilized the necessary forces and resources at the disposal of the Air Operations Center. Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were also put on alert.

According to the Polish military, these measures are preventive in nature and are aimed at protecting airspace, especially in areas adjacent to threat zones. The command added that it is monitoring the current situation, and the subordinate forces and resources remain ready to respond immediately.

On Monday, Russian forces attacked the Volyn region of Ukraine with drones, the Ukrainian channel Insider UA reported. According to the channel, a jet drone fell near the Yahodyn border crossing on the border with Poland.

The head of the Volyn Regional Administration, Roman Romaniuk, reported the arrival of a Russian jet Shahed. According to him, the impact was recorded near the border with Poland, in the village of Starovoitove in the Kovel district, where the Yahodyn checkpoint is located.

Romaniuk wrote that the blast wave damaged the checkpoint building at the entrance to the terminal. Preliminary reports indicate that no one was injured.
