In Yekaterinburg, five Yabloko candidates were detained in one day; later, a sixth was reported

In Yekaterinburg, five representatives of Yabloko taking part in the current election campaign were detained in one day. Later, it became known about a sixth detainee — Vladimir Sevostyanov, a deputy of the Sukhoi Log Duma.

According to 66.ru, five representatives of Yabloko were detained in Yekaterinburg in one day: State Duma candidates Konstantin Kiselev and Vladimir Sobyanin, candidates for the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Region Shana Ogney and Aleksandr Kudelkin, as well as former city Duma deputy Alexey Kholodarev, who was third on the party’s regional list.

Then information appeared about a sixth detainee — the incumbent deputy of the Sukhoi Log Duma, Vladimir Sevostyanov, who is simultaneously running for the State Duma and the Sverdlovsk Regional Legislative Assembly in the Asbest constituency.

Protocols were drawn up against Kiselev, Ogney, and Kudelkin under Article 20.3 of the Administrative Code for displaying extremist symbols.

In Ogney’s case, the reason for the case was artistic and neural-network-generated images she published of characters from fantasy worlds with a pentagram; this publication appeared back in 2024, and the so-called International Satanism Movement was recognized as extremist by the Supreme Court only on July 23, 2025.

Kiselev said that the police studied his posts from 2019 and 2021, and in one of the photos from a rally against the detention of Alexey Navalny, there was a large letter “N” in the background.

Sevostyanov was detained during the day in Sukhoi Log and taken to Yekaterinburg; after a protocol was drawn up under Article 20.3 of the Administrative Code over a 2020 repost, he was released. An administrative penalty under this article deprives a person of the right to participate in elections for one year.

As of September 4, Verstka counted at least 36 opposition candidates who had already been removed or barred from the September elections; 27 of them were for reasons related to “extremist symbols” on social media, and more than half — 19 people — represented Yabloko; earlier, the Supreme Court also removed the party’s federal list from the upcoming elections.
