Case of the illegal hunting of an Amur tiger in Primorye sent to court

Private draft

A resident of Primorye is accused of the illegal hunting, possession, and sale of an Amur tiger, the regional prosecutor’s office said. The criminal case has been sent to the Nadezhdinsky District Court of Primorsky Krai.

According to the investigation, the man was in a forested area of Khasansky District from March to September 2025 together with a group of people.

There they found an Amur tiger listed in the Red Book.

The investigation believes that the defendants fired at least once at the predator from a rifled hunting carbine, a “Saiga MK”, after which the tiger died.

To conceal the crime, the participants in the case separated the limbs and jaws from the body.

The accused, it is alleged, then transported parts of the carcass and found a buyer for their sale.

Cases against two other defendants were separated into separate proceedings, and the accused was also served with a civil claim for more than 1 million rubles.
