A disruption occurred in the operation of Russian media outlets and services after an attack on Yandex’s data center in the Ryazan region
Private draft
In Russia, some online media outlets and services experienced a disruption: the websites of several major publications and platforms stopped opening. Some companies linked the outages to an attack on Yandex’s data center in the Ryazan region, and the company itself confirmed a fire and the suspension of the site’s operations.
As The Insider confirmed, problems arose when trying to open the websites of RIA Novosti, Interfax, Vedomosti, and Kommersant, and for some time the pages of Vesti IS and RBC did not load — both from abroad and from Russia.
The Downdetector and Sboy.RF services also recorded disruptions in the operation of some transport services, including Russian Railways, among telecom operators and on other platforms. Among them were Avito, the Ivi cinema service, the CIAN real estate search site, as well as the OZON and Wildberries marketplaces.
CIAN and some other companies have already confirmed that the outages are linked to an attack on Yandex’s data center in the Ryazan region last night. Since morning, Yandex’s own services have also been operating with disruptions.
The company confirmed the attack and the fire caused by it, and said that it affected part of the infrastructure. There were no casualties, and the operation of the data center in Sasovo, Ryazan region, has been suspended.
