Turkish police detained 85 people in 30 provinces of the country on suspicion of ties to the criminal gang “Daltons”. The operation took place on October 27, Anadolu reported.
According to Anadolu, on October 27 Turkish police carried out an operation in 30 provinces and detained 85 people on suspicion of ties to the “Daltons” gang. The report does not say that this operation is directly linked to the investigation into the arson of a Starlink station in Poland.
The investigation believes that the gang recruited perpetrators through social media and sent them tasks via WhatsApp. Among those detained, the agency reported, are dozens of minors.
Earlier, alleged members of the “Daltons” were suspected of setting fire to a Starlink station in the village of Wola Krobowska near Warsaw. According to Poland’s Internal Security Agency, on September 23 two masked people crossed the fence, poured flammable liquid, and set the equipment on fire.
On October 12, two Turkish citizens — Umit E. and Müslüm T. — were detained in Germany. Polish investigators suspect them of sabotage and working for a foreign intelligence service, the agency said.
On October 13, two more people, including a woman, were detained in this case. Journalists from Der Spiegel reported the alleged involvement of the perpetrators in the “Daltons”.
According to them, the alleged leader of the gang, Beratcan Gekdemir, may be in the Russian Federation. German intelligence services believe that Moscow may have provided him with protection in expectation of reciprocal services.
