Zelensky met with CIA Director John Ratcliffe at Shannon Airport

Private draft

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with CIA Director John Ratcliffe at Shannon Airport in Ireland while the planes were refueling. According to Reuters, it was an informal conversation, and its content is not disclosed.

Reuters, citing two sources, reported that Zelensky and Ratcliffe spoke informally at Shannon Airport in Ireland while their planes were refueling. What exactly they discussed is unknown.

Zelensky is now heading to New York, where he is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump on September 22. The meeting with Ratcliffe took place less than a month after the CIA chief's trip to Moscow.

According to Reuters, in Moscow Ratcliffe met with the leadership of Russian intelligence services, and he had no direct contacts with Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin said. An agency source claims that in the Russian capital Ratcliffe discussed Russia's war with Ukraine.

Financial Times called the CIA director the new key U.S. negotiator on this issue, but the White House denied it. Last week, the Kremlin said that negotiations on a peaceful settlement involving the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine could resume in October.
