State Duma candidate from the Green Party Yulia Kuznetsova (Kharchenko), who ran under the slogan “For peace”, stopped answering calls on the evening of September 17, on the eve of the first day of voting. On the morning of September 18, in Moscow polling stations observers began being removed on the basis of withdrawal statements that Kuznetsova allegedly signed, while her supporters consider the signature forged.
On the morning of September 18, at Moscow PECs No. 1263, 1273, and 514, observers were shown statements withdrawing their assignments, which Kuznetsova allegedly signed. Her supporters consider the signature forged, and it is still impossible to reach her.
Before disappearing, Kuznetsova denied that she had withdrawn her observers from the polling stations and called the relevant document forged. Problems with admitting observers began even earlier: the Bogorodsky district election commission reported that the candidate had allegedly withdrawn their assignments herself, but no such decision was published publicly.
On the evening of September 17, Kuznetsova held a meeting with voters in Sokolniki dedicated to internet freedom. After it, she told acquaintances that she was going home by taxi and was about 15 minutes from home, the SotaVision channel writes.
Around 21:00, the phones of Kuznetsova and her husband Vadim were turned off. The couple was not found at home.
Later, a source for the Slovo zashchite project on Kuznetsova’s team said that she was allegedly in one of the police stations of Moscow’s Central Administrative District. According to him, Kuznetsova told relatives that she was fine and that she had “gone away for three days so as not to frighten her family”, but there is no confirmation from her or her husband.
The head of the Moscow branch of the Dawn movement, Nikolai Toropov, first wrote that Kuznetsova and her husband were fine, and then retracted his own words. He said that there is still no concrete information about their whereabouts and that he will publish new messages only after confirmation from Kuznetsova herself or her husband.
Yulia Kuznetsova (Kharchenko) is running from the Green Party in the Babushkinsky single-mandate district No. 195 in Moscow. She previously worked in Boris Nadezhdin’s campaign headquarters, and the Anti-Corruption Foundation and Maxim Katz’s team included her in the list of recommended candidates to vote for.
