«Yabloko» reported threats against candidates in the Kaliningrad region

Private draft

In the Kaliningrad region, representatives of “Yabloko” received messages with threats against the region’s legislative assembly candidates Roman Morozov and Dmitry Mamaev. The party said it considers them a threat to life and appealed to Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev.

According to the press service of “Yabloko”, an unknown person sent one of the representatives of the Kaliningrad branch a message: “If you are for lives, then stand up for the lives of your people. Withdraw R and D. Why sacrifice in vain? Well-wisher”.

The party explained that “R” and “D” refer to the candidates for the Kaliningrad Regional Legislative Assembly, Roman Morozov and Dmitry Mamaev. Morozov is also running for the State Duma.

“Yabloko” said it considers this message a threat to the candidates’ lives. Party leader Nikolai Rybakov appealed to Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev with a demand to conduct an investigation, identify the author of the messages, and take measures to ensure the candidates’ safety.

At the beginning of August, according to the party, Kirill Rumyantsev, deputy head of the Saratov branch, faced death threats and demands to withdraw from the State Duma elections. At the time, Rybakov asked Kolokoltsev to personally oversee the investigation into this incident.

“Yabloko” also claims that during the current election campaign, four more single-mandate candidates from the party withdrew from the elections because of pressure and threats.
