Vienna court orders Rasperia to pay RBI and Raiffeisenbank €3.15 billion
Private draft
The Vienna Regional Court for Civil Matters has ordered Rasperia Trading Limited in absentia to pay Raiffeisen Bank International and JSC “Raiffeisenbank” about €3.15 billion. The company has four weeks to appeal the decision before it enters into force.
RBI said it intends to обратиться к the Austrian financial regulator FMA with a request to allow the use of Rasperia’s assets frozen in Austria to enforce the court ruling.
The dispute between the parties is related to 28.5 million shares of the Austrian construction group Strabag, which belong to Rasperia and were frozen in the European Union. Because these securities were blocked and it was impossible to receive dividends and other payments on them, Rasperia sought to recover funds in Russian courts.
In January 2025, it was awarded more than €2 billion, and in December of the same year — another €339 million. After that, RBI decided to seek compensation for losses incurred in Russia in Austria and in July 2026 filed a €3.15 billion lawsuit against Rasperia.
Earlier, Oleg Deripaska notified the Austrian construction group Strabag about the sale of the company he controls, Rasperia Trading Limited.
