Donald Trump said that talks between the US and Iran on ending the conflict could take place as early as next week. This was reported on Sunday by Interfax, citing the American publication Axios.

In an interview with Axios, Trump said: “I expect more talks with Iran. They want to make a deal, but it’s not the deal I would want. It’s something we might have agreed to a year ago”.

Axios explains that the US president expects new talks as early as next week. The publication also writes that Trump is “always thinking” about the possibility of resuming strikes on Iran.

In addition, Axios, citing sources in the Middle East, reports a new round of indirect talks as early as Monday. On Saturday, Trump said he rejects the Iranian plan to de-escalate tensions.
