The detachment of combat ships of the Northern Fleet has completed an exercise episode with a tactical group on Kotelny Island in the Novosibirsk Islands archipelago. This was reported by the fleet press service; during the maneuvers, the ships delivered additional weapons, ammunition, and counterterrorism teams to the island.
According to the exercise scenario, after the fire strike by the detachment of ships of the simulated enemy, the remaining forces landed sabotage and reconnaissance groups on one of the islands of the Novosibirsk Islands archipelago using coastal missile systems “Bastion”.
In the episode to strengthen the protection and defense of military infrastructure facilities in the Arctic zone, the detachment of ships delivered additional weapons, ammunition, and counterterrorism teams that were on board to the tactical group.
The crews of the patrol ship “Ivan Papanin” and the large landing ship “Kondopoga” practiced naval combat with a simulated enemy ship. During the firing, the artillery systems hit airborne targets simulating unmanned aerial vehicles, and at the final stage the ships struck a sea target representing the enemy ship.
In addition, the sailors carried out joint maneuvering and protection of the detachment from air attack means using smoke screens and active jamming systems, and also used electronic warfare systems. According to the exercise scenario, during the elimination of sabotage and reconnaissance groups, one of the servicemen of the tactical group was wounded, after which he was evacuated by the shipborne Ka-29 helicopter to the deck of the ice-class patrol ship “Ivan Papanin”, where he received specialized medical care.
