The cassation court left unchanged Blinovskaya’s sentence in the tax evasion case
Private draft
Elena Blinovskaya, sentenced to 4.5 years for legalization and illegal circulation of payment instruments, did not admit guilt during the cassation review of the sentence. On July 29, the Second Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction left unchanged the sentence in the tax evasion case, although the defense asked to overturn it, citing the statute of limitations.
According to Vedomosti, on July 29 the Second Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction left unchanged Blinovskaya’s sentence on the tax evasion count.
The defense filed a cassation appeal in January and asked to overturn the sentence, stating that the statute of limitations for this article had expired even before the case reached court.
The cassation court found this argument unconvincing and noted that Blinovskaya did not admit guilt in court, did not agree with the charges, and did not file motions to terminate the criminal case on non-exonerating grounds.
In March 2025, the Savyolovsky Court found her guilty under the tax evasion article, but exempted her from punishment on this count because the statute of limitations had expired.
Initially, Blinovskaya was sentenced to five years in prison, and the Moscow City Court softened this decision in October 2025. Nearly three years she spent in pretrial detention and under house arrest before the verdict was handed down were credited toward her sentence, as well as a 1 million ruble fine, a four-year ban on commercial activity, and the recovery of 587 million rubles to the state budget.
