Private draft

The criminal case on military “fakes” against the founder of the children’s hospice “House with a Lighthouse”, Lida Moniava, has been dropped for lack of corpus delicti. This was reported in the benefactor’s support group.

As “Novaya Gazeta Europe”, Moniava’s support group reported that the criminal case on military “fakes” was dropped due to lack of corpus delicti.

In the same message, Moniava’s supporters thanked everyone who came to the court, as well as the patients of “House with a Lighthouse”, who supported her in wheelchairs and with ventilators. Separately, they thanked those who wrote official letters in defense of Moniava and published posts of support.

Moniava was detained on September 2 on charges of spreading “fakes” about the Russian army because of a post about killed Ukrainian civilians. The court barred her from leaving the house at night, using the internet, and communicating with witnesses in the case.

According to the report, about 200 people came to the court. Among them were the founder of the “Vera” foundation, Nyuta Federmesser, former editor-in-chief of “Novaya Gazeta” Dmitry Muratov, as well as hospice patients and their relatives, including parents with children in wheelchairs.

In February, Moniava was fined 45,000 rubles under a protocol on “discrediting” the army for three posts, including about Russian strikes on Kryvyi Rih and Sumy. After the criminal case was opened, she said that she would not emigrate from Russia and would continue helping terminally ill children; at the same time, Moniava planned to leave her post as hospice director and step down from the board.
