The British fleet watched a Russian group of ships with the «Neustrashimy» for three days

Private draft

The Royal Navy said that it tracked a Russian group of sanctioned vessels, General Skobelev and Sparta, and two warships for three days in the North Sea and the English Channel. Off the French island of Ushant, the monitoring was handed over to another NATO member.

The Royal Navy said that Russia sent two warships into the North Sea and the English Channel to escort the sanctioned vessels General Skobelev and Sparta. The frigate Neustrashimy joined the Admiral Levchenko that was with them.

The British fleet tracked the Russian group for three days. The operation involved the destroyer HMS Duncan, the frigate HMS St Albans, the patrol ship HMS Severn, and a Merlin helicopter.

These forces escorted the Russian ships from the North Sea through the English Channel and off the French island of Ushant handed over the monitoring to another NATO member. At the same time, HMS Mersey tracked the Russian tanker-supply ship Akademik Pashin, which was sailing nearby.

The Royal Navy claims that after the detention in June of the sanctioned Russian tanker Smyrtos, ships of the Russian “shadow fleet” began changing routes more often. According to the British fleet, because of this Moscow is forced to send warships to escort them.

The British fleet said that the number of its sorties to monitor Russian activity in the first eight months of 2026 increased by 25% compared with the same period in 2025.
