Sberbank reported a slowdown in spending growth on marketplaces

Private draft

Sberbank’s Chief Financial Officer Taras Skvortsov said at the Eastern Economic Forum that since the beginning of July, annual spending growth on marketplaces has been steadily slowing. For the week from August 24 to 30, it amounted to 18.8% versus about 30% in June.

Skvortsov called this “a fairly noticeable slowdown” and said he does not consider the current pace to be the “bottom” of the trend. According to him, spending growth on marketplaces may decline further.

At the same time, he noted, this growth is still almost twice as high as the increase in consumption across the overall basket, which amounted to 7.4%. For 2025, the share of marketplaces in customer consumption, according to Sberbank’s estimate, reached about 15% and continues to grow.

Ozon’s press service told RBC that from August 24 to 30, the company delivered 12.5 million more orders to customers than in the first full week of the month, and several million more than in any other week. Industry representatives disagreed that these data can be used to judge the state of the market, and Ozon added that the platforms are now restructuring their model of working with sellers after UAV attacks.
