Russian wheat exports fell fourfold in the second ten days of September

Private draft

In the second ten days of September, Russian wheat exports fell fourfold compared with the same period last year. The geography of shipments shrank from 29 to 8 countries, and Turkey’s purchases fell 32-fold.

According to Interfax, citing the Russian Grain Union, from September 10 to 20, 347 tons of wheat were sent for export, compared with 1.3 million tons during the same period in 2025. Overall grain exports fell fourfold, from 1.6 million tons to 381 thousand tons.

Barley shipments fell 9.9-fold to 21.9 thousand tons, and corn shipments fell 3.3-fold to 11.8 thousand tons. According to Elena Tyurina, director of the analytical department of the Russian Grain Union, the decline began back in July and intensified by mid-September.

Tyurina predicts that by the end of September, wheat exports will amount to no more than about 1 million tons, whereas in September 2025, 5.7 million tons of this crop were sold abroad. In the second ten days of September, Russian wheat went to only 8 countries, compared with 29 a year earlier.

Egypt bought the most grain: 81 thousand tons were shipped there, which is 3.6 times less than during the same period in 2025. The sharpest decline was recorded on the Turkish route: Turkey bought 6.1 thousand tons of wheat, compared with more than 200 thousand tons a year earlier.

Tyurina also said that grain was shipped through only 9 ports, whereas a year earlier it went through 35.
