Russian medical institutions will receive the first batch of the HPV vaccine «Cegardex» at the end of September
Private draft
At the end of September, Russian medical institutions will receive the first batch of “Cegardex” — the first domestically produced vaccine against human papillomavirus (HPV). By the end of the year, up to 600,000 doses are planned to be produced.
Production of the drug was launched by the company “Nanolek” at the end of 2025 in the Kirov Region. In 2027, capacity is expected to exceed 3 million vaccine doses per year.
The total investment in creating a full-cycle production facility will amount to 7.5 billion rubles. Of this amount, the federal Industrial Development Fund provided 950 million rubles in the form of a preferential loan under the flagship program.
According to the IDF, requests for supply have already been received from customers in the Magadan, Kirov, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, and Moscow regions, as well as from Krasnoyarsk Krai and other regions of Russia. Large private clinics are also showing interest in the drug.
In the first half of 2026, the dossier for “Cegardex” was submitted for registration in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan. The drug is registered for use in children and adults aged 9 to 45.
According to the manufacturer, “Cegardex” protects against virus types 6, 11, 16, and 18. The HPV vaccine reduces the risk of developing cancer, including cervical cancer, and in Russia cervical cancer ranks second among the most common cancers in women aged 14–45 and first among the causes of cancer-related death in women under 44.
In January, it was reported that HPV testing became available to Russian women as part of reproductive preventive checkups under the compulsory medical insurance system.
