Ozon will begin using pickup points as logistics centers starting September 10
Private draft
More than 80,000 Ozon pickup points across Russia will be able to operate as small logistics centers. The rollout will take place in two stages — starting September 10 and in October.
Starting September 10, items that buyers canceled or did not pick up will be left at pickup points. After that, they will reappear on the marketplace storefront, and after an order is placed, a courier will pick up the item from the pickup point and deliver it to the buyer.
Starting in October, sellers will be able to bring goods for storage and sale to selected pickup points themselves. In addition, products can be handed over to the nearest pickup point, after which Ozon will transport them to other locations.
Pickup point owners will be paid for processing and storing orders. The company said that with a small additional workload, the points could earn about 15,000 rubles a month, and these costs will be borne by sellers.
The launch of the new scheme is taking place against the backdrop of a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on Ozon logistics facilities. Since August 22, due to strikes, fires, and the threat of new attacks, the company has temporarily halted operations at several warehouses and redirected goods and shipments between other centers.
