The Moscow Regional Court sentenced Alexey Gas’kov to life imprisonment and ordered him to pay three million rubles. He was found guilty of murdering nine women and one man.

Gas’kov is 51 years old and is from Berdsk. He first came to the attention of law enforcement in 2002, when he was living in Moscow and studying at VGIK. One of his friends was Mikhail Yudin — another serial killer who later earned the nicknames “the Berdsk” or “denim maniac”.

At that time, Gas’kov was detained on suspicion of murdering a girl whom he had been visiting with Yudin. He confessed not only to that crime, but also to other murders, but his statements were inconsistent, and the forensic examination pointed to Yudin. Later, in 2006, Gas’kov was detained again in connection with the rape of an 11-year-old girl, and he received a ten-year prison sentence.

In 2024, Gas’kov was suspected of involvement in a series of murders from twenty years earlier in the Moscow region. According to investigators, from March to November 2002 he killed nine young women and one man. One of the victims was 23-year-old Peruvian student Agnes Carolina Santisteban, the niece of the country’s president’s adviser; her body was found near a dormitory in Khimki. Gas’kov again confessed to what he had done and claimed that since 1995 he had committed “100-plus” murders, but investigators did not confirm his involvement in other crimes.
