Moscow Refinery in Kapotnya Halts Processing After Drone Strike
Private draft
Gazprom Neft’s Moscow Refinery in Kapotnya halted processing after a Ukrainian UAV strike on Sunday. According to Reuters, citing industry sources, repairs will take several weeks.
Reuters, citing industry sources, reported that both primary processing units at the Moscow Refinery were damaged — AVT-6 and Euro+, which together account for all of the plant’s capacity.
According to these data, repairs will take several weeks. As of today, fuel from the Moscow Refinery is not traded on the St. Petersburg Fuel Exchange.
The Moscow Refinery’s processing capacity is 11.6 million tons of oil per year. That is almost 3 million tons of gasoline and 3.2 million tons of diesel.
The plant supplies 40% of all fuel in Moscow and 70% of gasoline and jet fuel in the region. The Kapotnya plant is also the largest supplier of fuel for Moscow airports, and Rosneft also delivers fuel there, but in smaller quantities.
Drones have already struck the Moscow Refinery in June of this year. After one of those strikes, the plant also completely shut down operations.
