In a written interview with RBC, Sergei Mironov said that “A Just Russia” narrowly made it into the State Duma because of Russians’ disappointment in the authorities. According to him, some of the party’s supporters did not turn out to vote amid negativity linked to the difficulties caused by the SVO.
In a written interview with RBC, Sergei Mironov explained the poor result of “A Just Russia” in the Duma elections by saying that some voters had become disappointed in their ability to influence the authorities. According to him, a significant share of supporters did not go to the polls amid negativity linked to the objective difficulties caused by the special military operation (SVO), including a gasoline shortage.
Mironov claims that these people understand the need to adjust the authorities’ social policy, but decided that voting was pointless. He called this a serious problem and acknowledged that the party had “failures and mistakes” in the campaign.
According to the Central Election Commission, the party received 5% of the vote and cleared the threshold for entering the State Duma after 96.95% of the protocols had been processed. As a result of the September 18–20 elections, “A Just Russia” won 17 seats.
Mironov also noted that all parties except United Russia received fewer seats in the State Duma than in the previous convocation, while the ruling party, by contrast, gained more than two dozen mandates. According to him, this should mean people rallying around the authorities “in the face of external threats”.
