Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and chairman of “United Russia” Dmitry Medvedev said at a conference call with secretaries of the party’s regional branches that Russia cannot exist without “greatness”. “Our country can be either a great power, or it will not exist at all. Such are the laws of history”, he said, as reported by TASS.
Medvedev had already addressed the topic of Russian “greatness” after the de-occupation of Kherson by Ukrainian forces in 2022. At that time, he called for reminding the “near and far enemy” more often of the “greatness and boundlessness of the Russian world”.
After the start of the war, Medvedev became one of the main mouthpieces of Russian threats against the West. In particular, he repeatedly threatened Western countries with the use of nuclear weapons.
At the beginning of September, Medvedev also called for strikes on Berlin and German military factories after accusations of Russia’s involvement in the attack on Leipzig Airport.
