Macron orders the French government to protect critical infrastructure from drone attacks and cyberattacks
Private draft
Emmanuel Macron instructed the French government to prepare a plan to protect critical infrastructure, including defense industry facilities, from drone attacks and cyberattacks. He said this to journalists at the Élysée Palace after meeting with leaders of political parties.
Macron said that in recent weeks the threat, in particular the Russian hybrid threat faced by Europe and France, has significantly intensified. He added that such attacks will not go unanswered.
The president also accused Russia of trying to intimidate European countries and weaken support for Ukraine.
The statement was made at the Élysée Palace following Macron's meeting with leaders of political parties.
The day before, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, during a speech in parliament, said that Russia plans to carry out “hybrid” strikes using missiles and drones against countries supporting Ukraine.
According to Tusk, there is a real risk that drones or missiles could enter the territory of one or several NATO countries on the eastern flank and even cause destruction.
