Hagerty said the tour will begin on October 26 in Dublin, then concerts will take place in Paris on October 29 and in London on October 30. According to him, U.S. dates will be added to the lineup, and additional tickets will go on sale next week; some tour details are still being finalized.
Announcing the new tour, Macklemore said: “As you all know, my schedule has opened up a bit”. He made that statement a few days after being removed from the Loop Tour on September 14 following a performance earlier in September in New Jersey, where he delivered pro-Palestinian remarks from the stage.
During that performance, the rapper said that one of the reasons he took part in the tour was to say at stadiums: “Free Palestine”. He then performed a song dedicated to pro-Palestinian protesters at Columbia University.
After Macklemore was dropped from the tour, some of the supporting acts also withdrew. Sheeran later said the decision to remove the rapper was made by the promoter Messina Touring Group, not by him personally.
In a statement on Thursday, the rapper also said the past few weeks had shown him “a collective awakening around the liberation of Palestine” and pressure on artists who speak out publicly. He added that over the past week he had been in touch with musicians who had already spoken in support of Palestinians despite possible consequences.
Later, Sheeran in Philadelphia admitted that he had made “mistakes” in handling the fallout, apologized to fans, and called the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023 “horrific”. He also described the situation in Gaza as “indescribable and disproportionate”.
