Lida Moniava wrote on Telegram that because of the criminal case over military “fakes”, she will have to leave her post as director of the children’s hospice “House with a Lighthouse” and step down from the board. According to her, she does not plan to leave Russia.

Moniava said that the investigation will continue for the next couple of months, and in 2–3 months, she expects, the case will go to trial on the merits. She linked this to the criminal case over military “fakes”.

According to her, after the trial she will most likely face a penal colony term of 5–10 years. Moniava added that she has several months to finish things and try to organize the work of “House with a Lighthouse” so that the hospice can continue operating without her.

She wrote that she will no longer be the director of “House with a Lighthouse” and will leave the board. Moniava also expressed hope that her colleagues will be able to continue supporting the hospice’s work and perhaps even make it easier.

According to her, the hospice has more than a thousand patients and 400 employees. Moniava fears that the criminal prosecution will affect the organization’s work and people’s willingness to help it, so she asked that support for the hospice continue through donations and volunteer work.

Separately, she stated that she does not intend to leave Russia, despite advice to do so. In the post, Moniava recalled the 6 a.m. search, the cell, handcuffs, and the electronic ankle monitor and said that it is important for her to remain in Russia during this difficult time.
