Private draft

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin on October 7 in Grozny presented Chechnya’s head Ramzan Kadyrov with the “Honorary Architect of Russia” insignia. The award was presented as recognition for a significant contribution to the development of the architectural sector and urban planning in Russia and Chechnya.

According to the Russian publication The Insider, the ceremony took place during the opening of the boulevard named after Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov in the new Vladimir Putin district in Grozny. Khusnullin said: “I believe that the chief architect of all these projects is you personally”, and also noted that urban planning projects in Chechnya are being implemented under Kadyrov’s personal control.

“Honorary Architect of Russia” is a departmental insignia of the Ministry of Construction, not a state honorary title. Under the award regulations, it can be given not only to specialists in architecture and urban planning, but also to other individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of Russian architecture and urban planning. Separately, there is a state title, “Honored Architect of the Russian Federation”.

This is not the first industry award for the head of Chechnya. In April 2026, the presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Chechen Republic presented Kadyrov with the medal “For Contribution to the Development of Science”, although it was not publicly specified which scientific works or research this contribution referred to. Eight days later, the executive director of the Cement Producers Union, Darya Martynkina, presented him with the Order of the 1st Degree “For Special Contribution to the Development of the Cement Industry of the Russian Federation” during a discussion of the modernization of the Chechencement enterprise.

In 2023, the president of the Kurchatov Institute, Mikhail Kovalchuk, awarded Kadyrov the Igor Kurchatov medal for an “outstanding contribution” to the development of the institute. In June 2025, Rosenergoatom awarded the head of Chechnya both a gold and a silver medal “For Merit in Improving the Safety of Nuclear Power Plants”, and in Chechnya this award was explained, in particular, by the participation of Chechen units in ensuring the security of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant occupied by Russia.

Even earlier, in 2022, the Dental Association of Russia presented Kadyrov with the Order “For Merit to Dentistry” of the 1st Degree for his contribution to the development of Chechnya’s dental service. In March 2023, the ombudsman for human rights in Chechnya awarded him the medal “Honored Human Rights Defender of the Chechen Republic” for “outstanding merits in protecting the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens”, and the same medals were given to his mother Aymani and posthumously to his father Akhmat Kadyrov. A month earlier, Kadyrov became the first recipient of the title Hero of the Chechen Republic; The Insider wrote that the award had been established shortly before by Kadyrov himself, and the authority to confer it also belongs to the head of Chechnya.

A separate set of awards is also received by the younger son of the head of Chechnya, Adam. According to The Insider, the first series began in the fall of 2023, when he was 15: after Ramzan Kadyrov published a video of the beating of Nikita Zhuravel in the Grozny pretrial detention center, he soon received the title Hero of Chechnya, and then the Tatarstan Order “Duslyk”, the highest award of Karachay-Cherkessia “For Merit to the KCR”, the award “For Merit to the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic”, the orders “For Merit to the Ummah” and “For Service to the Religion of Islam”, as well as “Labor Valor of Russia” and the medal “For Contribution to the Development of the Russian Special Forces University”.

By mid-November 2023, The Insider counted nine awards for 15-year-old Adam, received in less than two months. In March 2025, the National Guard awarded 17-year-old Adam the departmental medal “For Combat Distinction”, in January 2026 he received the gold medal “For Merit in Improving the Safety of Nuclear Power Plants” for participating in ensuring the security of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and in June 2026 he was again awarded the title Hero of Chechnya, after which he became a twice Hero of the republic.

In July 2026, Ramzan Kadyrov and his son simultaneously received the anniversary medals “90 Years of the Traffic Police of the Russian Interior Ministry”. The Insider also notes that the message listed other awards of Kadyrov and Adam, including the title Hero of Chechnya, medals for nuclear safety, and the departmental medal “For Combat Distinction”.
