Private draft

“Kommersant”, citing two sources, wrote that American rapper Kanye West received about $20 million for concerts in Saint Petersburg, which were later canceled. On October 4, it became known that ticket buyers had begun receiving refunds, and the St. Petersburg police began a preliminary investigation into the organizer on suspicion of fraud.

“Kommersant”, citing two sources, wrote that American rapper Kanye West received about $20 million for concerts in Saint Petersburg, which ultimately did not take place. One of the sources clarified that this is not a pure fee: from this money, in particular, the services of his staff are paid.

The publication’s second source said that the musician is unlikely to return this money, because such a condition was not specified in the contract. The concerts were organized by the Moscow agency Say Agency (LLC “Say Agency”).

On September 30, the company stated that the concerts “will not be able to take place on the scheduled dates”. On October 4, it became known that ticket buyers had begun receiving refunds, and the St. Petersburg police began a preliminary investigation into the organizer on suspicion of fraud.

Say Agency announced Kanye West’s performances at Gazprom Arena on October 10 and 11, and ticket sales began in August. On August 24, the stadium said that no lease agreement had been signed with the organizer and that without it the concerts could not take place, however, tickets remained on sale. Fontanka wrote that the advertising campaign and sales were launched by the organizer before the agreement with the arena was signed and the event was approved by the city authorities. Ticket buyers began going to court.
