In the Volgograd region, a married couple is being accused of rehabilitating Nazism because of a workout video filmed on the grounds of the Soldier's Field memorial complex in the Gorodishchensky District. On September 10, law enforcement officers came to their home, searched it, and detained the couple.
In 2020, the couple recorded a workout video on the grounds of the Soldier's Field memorial complex in the Gorodishchensky District of the Volgograd region. In the video, they showed, in particular, how to do crunches correctly, and then posted the recording on TikTok. According to local media, the check began after an appeal from a State Duma deputy from the Volgograd region.
When the couple learned about the investigation, they deleted the video. On September 10, officers from the Interior Ministry, the FSB, the Investigative Committee, and the National Guard came to their home. Law enforcement officers conducted a search and detained the couple.
The investigation believes that the sports filming near the monument to the girl Mila on the grounds of the mass grave of soldiers of the 62nd Army who died in the Battle of Stalingrad is a desecration of a symbol of Russia's military glory and the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland. A criminal case has been opened against the couple under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — rehabilitating Nazism. They could face up to five years in prison.
According to local media, the man previously served in the security forces, then became a coach and started a sports blog. His channel published videos of workouts outdoors and in other locations.
