At an extraordinary meeting of the government of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, a reward was established for killing a bear — 36,500 rubles for one animal. This was reported in the Max messenger by the head of the regional government, Alexey Medvedev.
The measure applies on the territories of hunting grounds, except for specially protected natural areas of federal significance, including nature reserves. The right to the reward is granted to hunters who received permits in the established manner in designated grounds.
In populated areas, shooting bears remains the exclusive right of law enforcement agencies. The decision was made against the backdrop of a difficult situation with bears coming out to people and after three people died in September from attacks by these animals.
In Krasnoyarsk, as well as in the Yenisey and Dzerzhinsko-Taseyevsky municipal districts, a high-alert regime was introduced. After fatal attacks in the north of the region, outdoor events were restricted there.
According to Medvedev, the population of brown bears in the region remains stably high and is estimated at 25–32 thousand animals. He also said that this year the region has already received more than a thousand reports of bears coming out to people.
On September 9, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Krasnoyarsk Krai reported that 39 bears were eliminated in several districts in one day, 21 of them in the Southern group of districts: Yermakovsky, Kurgansky, Shushensky, and Karatuzsky. The agency urged residents to remain calm and refrain from going into the forest, while hunters and inspection staff worked around the clock.
