In Montenegro, 30-year-old Russian citizen Mikhail Shabunin was suspected of killing three shooting range employees in Danilovgrad. According to police, when they tried to detain him, he opened fire on the police, and then killed himself.

The bodies of three employees of the “Česká Zbrojovka” shooting range were found on the evening of August 31 in Danilovgrad, Montenegro. Investigators believe that after the killings, Shabunin took the weapon and car of one of the victims.

In the police statement, the director of Montenegro’s Police Administration wrote that the crisis situation has ended: after Shabunin was surrounded by police, he opened fire and then killed himself. Investigators believe that after the crime he took the weapon and the car of one of those killed.

The car was soon found on the outskirts of Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro. According to local journalists, Shabunin made it to the bus station in Podgorica, took a taxi to Herceg Novi, where he was renting an apartment, and then went into the forest, where police found him.

Significant police forces, special units, and a helicopter from the Armed Forces of Montenegro were deployed in the search for the suspect. The investigation is ongoing, and the motive for the killings is still unknown. On September 1 and 2, mourning was declared in Danilovgrad for the murdered shooting range employees.
