Hackers claim access to data on the GAS «Elections» 2.0 at CEC contractors
Private draft
An anonymous hacker group infiltrated the infrastructure of the CEC and its contractors, including “Tsifrotekh” — a subsidiary of Rostelecom. According to its claim, it obtained access to internal documents, source code, call recordings, and correspondence related to GAS “Elections” 2.0.
Hackers handed over an archive of the obtained documents to the editors of “Important Stories”, and the publication confirmed its authenticity. The site dedicated to the hack says the group gained access specifically to data on the development of GAS “Elections” 2.0.
“Tsifrotekh” is a subsidiary of Rostelecom that develops a system for conducting election campaigns. The company’s director, Alexey Gusev, when asked to comment on the hack, replied: “This is the first I’ve heard of it”.
The published message says that access was obtained to the company’s internal documents, source code, as well as employees’ calls and correspondence. It also claims that the intrusion affected the infrastructure of the Central Election Commission and its contractors.
The GAS “Elections” 2.0 system was put into operation in early 2026. It replaced the old version, which had been in use since the late 1990s, and the elections to the IX convocation State Duma are described as the first federal campaign to be held on the new system.
Additional details are published in the publication’s article.
