Gerhard Schröder appointed to the supervisory board of Globus in Russia
Private draft
The general meeting of participants of LLC “Giperglobus” appointed former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder as a member of the supervisory board, the company told RBC. Schröder will take part in overall management, the strategic development of the chain, and long-term planning for operations in the Russian market.
The owner of LLC “Giperglobus” and shareholder of Globus Holding GmbH & Co, Thomas Bruch, said that Schröder’s many years of experience in Russia’s political and economic life will help the company maintain a dialogue-oriented approach and find constructive solutions in the current conditions.
Schröder himself spoke about the importance of maintaining economic ties and investments in Russia. In his view, such ties are especially important in times of crisis: they make it possible to listen to one another and find paths to the future.
LLC “Giperglobus” left the German Globus Holding in January 2025.
In September, Vladimir Putin, by his decree, transferred Russian assets of Nestle, Auchan, Lemana Pro (formerly Leroy Merlin), and FM Logistic into external management. Control over them was handed to the company L. E. V Management, headed by Interior Ministry General Andrey Krayushkin, Novaya-Europa found.
In May, Vladimir Putin called Schröder a person with whom he would be able to hold a dialogue, against the backdrop of Europe’s desire to enter into negotiations with the Russian Federation.
