The incident occurred on October 2 in a special railcar in Kabardino-Balkaria: a convicted man snatched a pistol from a guard, killed him, and wounded three more FSIN employees. One of the wounded later died in the hospital, and the agency did not report on the condition of the other victims.
According to RBC, the man had been convicted under Article 228 of the Criminal Code. The publication’s sources clarified that the attack took place when he was being escorted to the toilet, and that he himself was eliminated.
The FSIN press service stated that the service’s leadership expresses condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the deceased and will provide them with the necessary assistance. On October 3, the agency said that the employees who prevented the escape from custody and stopped the situation in the special railcar would be nominated for state awards, one of them posthumously. The Investigative Committee opened a case under Part 1 of Article 226 of the Criminal Code, Part 3 of Article 321 of the Criminal Code, and Article 317 of the Criminal Code.
