FSB detained activist Dmitry Morozov in Izhevsk
Private draft
In Izhevsk, FSB officers detained activist Dmitry Morozov, his father Valery Tsarenko said. According to him, this happened the previous evening when Morozov went out to the store.
The next day, FSB officers came to the family home with witnesses, conducted a search, and seized a computer. Morozov was brought home for the duration of the search.
Valery Tsarenko said he noticed scratches on his son’s face and swollen hands. He suggested that the swelling was related to the handcuffs in which Morozov was held all night.
Relatives and lawyers do not know where the activist is now. According to Tsarenko, during the search FSB officers said that Morozov was being accused of links to an unnamed “banned organization”; they did not name the article under which he is being prosecuted.
Morozov is a democratic socialist and a public environmental inspector. He organized rallies in Izhevsk and sought approval for a protest against election fraud.
The Izhevsk administration refused to allow this rally, citing the emergency condition of the “Forever with Russia” monument. Morozov and his supporters appealed to the court and the administration of the President of Russia, and the court ordered the authorities to reconsider the application.
