FBK reported nine apartments belonging to the Meshin family in Barcelona
Private draft
FBK said that nine apartments in Barcelona were found belonging to Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin and his brother, State Duma deputy Aidar Metshin. According to the foundation, the property is registered to their third brother, businessman Airat Metshin, and his wife.
According to FBK, the total area of the Spanish real estate is 564 sq. meters, and the price of the nine apartments, bought in 2015–2017, is about 105 million rubles, or more than 1 million euros. The foundation claims that all the properties were paid for in full and upfront, without a mortgage.
Spain is described in FBK’s statement as an EU and NATO country. The foundation also writes that Ilsur and Aidar Metshin fly there much more often than the nominal owner of the property, Airat Metshin.
Ilsur Metshin has headed Kazan since 2005, and Aidar Metshin is a State Duma deputy and is running again in the upcoming elections. FBK points out that both previously spoke publicly about “patriotism” and “opposition to the West”.
In particular, Ilsur Metshin said that patriotism is “embedded in our genes”, and Aidar Metshin wrote that participants in the invasion of Ukraine are opposing “neo-Nazism” and the “NATO bloc”. The foundation also claims that the children of all three brothers studied and spent time abroad.
According to FBK, Aidar Metshin’s son Murat first studied in Switzerland, then until 2023 — in the US, and now lists Dubai as his place of residence. Ilsur Metshin’s younger son spent the May holidays in Italy, and Airat Metshin’s daughter studied at the Swiss institute Glion.
