At least 29 of the 78 diplomatic employees of the Russian embassy in Serbia, or 37.2%, may be linked to the security services, according to data from the Rupep.org database analyzed by “Agentstvo”. The Russian embassy and trade mission in Serbia employ 78 people; in Bulgaria, with a population of 6.7 million versus 6.6 million in Serbia, there are 18 Russian diplomats.
According to “Agentstvo”, 19 employees of the Russian embassy and trade mission in Serbia have ties to the Ministry of Defense and the GRU. According to the Rupep.org database, advisers Valery Golovanov, Vitaly Zelinsky, and Sergei Zubkov are also linked to the GRU. Golovanov and Zelinsky were registered at houses where GRU employees live, and Zubkov used the address of the GRU headquarters on Khoroshevskoye Highway, 76b.
