Dozens of delegates left the UN General Assembly hall during Netanyahu’s speech

Private draft

Dozens of delegates left the UN General Assembly hall during the speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Among those who remained was the Serbian delegation led by President Aleksandar Vučić.

According to Meduza, during the speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the UN General Assembly hall, shouts of support and outrage were heard at the same time, after which dozens of delegates began leaving their seats. Among those who remained was the Serbian delegation led by President Aleksandar Vučić.

Netanyahu spoke after many world leaders had criticized Israel’s military actions in the Gaza Strip from the UN General Assembly podium in recent days. In response, the Israeli prime minister called the departing delegates “moral cowards”.

He also said that accusations of genocide against Israel in the Gaza Strip are “the greatest lie of the century”. Another of his claims was that joining the US in the war against Iran was “one of the easiest decisions” he had ever had to make.

As Associated Press (AP) notes, on the same day the head of the Palestinian National Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, spoke by videoconference. According to AP, the US denied him a visa for the second year in a row to attend the General Assembly, which is why he spoke remotely.
