«Dodo Pizza» reports a hacking attack and the leak of part of customers’ data
Private draft
The “Dodo Pizza” chain reported a hacking attack on its IT systems and the theft of part of customers’ data. According to the company, the incident was recorded on September 27–28; information about bank cards, it is claimed, was not affected.
The company said it is conducting an internal investigation after the attack on its IT systems. Among the data that may have been compromised are names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and order contents; The Insider reports this.
At “Dodo Pizza”, they stated that the attackers did not gain access to bank card data because the company does not store payment data. Customers were also warned that they may be automatically logged out of their personal accounts in the chain’s app — this was described as a measure to protect accounts.
According to the Telegram channel Baza, which is close to law enforcement, hackers may have gained access to the data of about 68 million customers from different countries over the past 15 years. “Dodo Pizza” is a Russian pizza chain founded in 2011 in Syktyvkar; it now has more than 1,500 restaurants in Russia and in more than 20 other countries.
