Analyst of the Danish Police Intelligence Service Josephine Christensen said at a security conference in Copenhagen that Russia has begun sabotage operations against Danish defense companies supplying goods to Ukraine, Radio Svoboda reports. According to her, there was a lot of planning in the spring but few actions were carried out, and by the beginning of summer such operations had become more frequent.
Christensen said that Moscow more often uses untrained agents, including homeless people and people with addictions, who are recruited through Telegram and other social networks. She added that recruitment usually begins with simple tasks, such as reconnaissance or taking photos, and then moves on to real sabotage operations.
The Russian Embassy in Copenhagen rejected the allegations and said that the Danish authorities had made unfounded claims against Russia. Reuters reports this, citing a statement from the diplomatic mission.
Earlier, Politico wrote that the ambassadors of 27 EU countries have been discussing in recent weeks how the bloc should respond to possible large-scale hybrid attacks by Russia that could lead to casualties. Among the options, according to the publication, were sending rapid response teams, financial assistance to the affected country, and a procedure for interaction between the heads of EU institutions.
