CEV has allowed the Russian men’s and women’s national teams to compete

Private draft

CEV has allowed the Russian men’s and women’s national teams to compete under its auspices. The decision applies to indoor and beach volleyball tournaments, the All-Russian Volleyball Federation said, citing the confederation’s Administrative Council.

The AVF said on Telegram that the CEV Administrative Council had decided to allow the Russian men’s and women’s national teams to take part in tournaments under the European confederation’s auspices. The CEV noted that the FIVB decision to allow Russian national teams also applies to CEV competitions.

The confederation will separately determine the teams’ participation conditions and the necessary organizational procedures, and then submit them for approval to the organization’s administrative council. The decision concerns both indoor and beach volleyball. As the AVF clarified, the nearest official tournament for the Russian indoor national teams will be the Nations League.

Russian national teams were suspended in 2022 in connection with the start of the special operation in Ukraine. In December 2025, the FIVB lifted sanctions on youth teams, and on July 8 it issued a decision allowing Russian volleyball players to compete. This came after the International Olympic Committee recommended reviewing restrictions on teams from Russia.
