On October 3, the newspaper Novomoskovsk Segodnya published an obituary for Roman Syromyatnikov. The text described him as a teacher, writer, participant in the war, and a person who was involved in patriotic education of young people.
According to Vazhnyye Istorii, Syromyatnikov previously worked in the FSIN system. The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine accuses Syromyatnikov of torturing Ukrainian prisoners of war in colony IK-1 in Tula Oblast and claims that he was involved in the torture of at least 50 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian agency, together with other guards he beat prisoners with his hands, feet, batons, and hammers and tortured them with electric shocks; the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine has put him on a wanted list.
There is still no official confirmation of sabotage. The Telegram channel VChK-OGPU, which is close to the security services, claims that the explosive device was placed on the underside of the car under the driver's seat.
