In Ceuta, Spanish territory, Bardella and Abascal began a conversation about campaign coordination and the shared themes of their platforms. The visit by the head of France’s National Rally to Spain is scheduled for two days.
Spain’s snap elections will take place on November 29, and Vox is counting on a notable surge. Vox’s ally in the European Parliament, the National Rally, hopes that a strong result for the Spanish far right will create broader momentum in Europe, while Marine Le Pen prepares for the presidential campaign in France next year. Bardella, for his part, continues to strengthen his party’s European ties.
Abascal described Bardella’s visit as “a demonstration that a new era could open for the two countries”, and also praised “cooperation between patriotic forces”. Bardella, in response, linked the elections in Spain and the upcoming French presidential campaign to the issue of migration, calling it “an existential question” for both countries. He also recalled that the surge in migration in Ceuta in July caused chaos and put the migration issue back at the center of political debate.
According to the report, the teams of the two leaders had discussed a trip to Ceuta as far back as summer, and it was finalized after the Spanish elections were called last week. On Tuesday, Bardella and Abascal will hold closed-door talks about the campaign, introduce their teams, and exchange ideas on key issues, including housing. They will then speak at the Nueva Economía business forum in Madrid, where Abascal will take the stage for the first time as a guest speaker.
