Private draft

Australia has expanded sanctions against Russia and added the children’s centers Orlyonok and Artek to the lists. The new package also includes 33 individuals, 35 organizations, and 38 vessels that Canberra classifies as part of the so-called shadow fleet.

This was reported by TASS, citing an announcement by the Australian government. Canberra included 33 individuals, 35 organizations, and 38 vessels in the new package of restrictions.

According to TASS, the list of individuals includes Igor Zhuravlev, director of the all-Russian children’s center Smena, and Konstantin Fedorenko, director of the children’s center Artek. The organizations listed include the children’s centers Smena, Orlyonok, and Artek.

Australia has once again expanded sanctions against Russia over the situation in Ukraine. According to the country’s government, since March 2014 Canberra has announced anti-Russian restrictions more than 30 times.

Australia’s sanctions list now includes more than 1,200 citizens and more than 300 enterprises from Russia and Belarus. The Australian authorities have completely ceased trade relations with Russia, frozen the assets of blacklisted individuals, and prohibited national organizations from doing business with sanctioned companies.

The restrictions also ban arms exports. In addition, they cut Russian banks off from Australia’s capital markets and impose a complete ban on the export of goods and services intended for the exploration and extraction of oil, gas, and mineral resources.
